good question, I want to reach that title myself, so my advice would be to always be surrounded by the best art, the best talent and the most creative artists to be positively influenced and motivated to work hard. That should do the tricks to reach your goals, best of of luck!

to answer your question, dominance war is one the biggest video game art event that occurs once a year. Theres something like 2000 + artists battling in making the best 2D or 3D piece of art possible. If you want more info you could head to [link], great stuff on there.
